Three ANU alumni appointed to senior Foreign Affairs and Trade positions
The three senior DFAT officials are ANU alumni.
Three alumni of The Australian National University have been appointed to senior executive and diplomatic roles in Australia’s Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT).
Stephanie Fahey (PhD, ’84), has been named the next Chief Executive of the Australian Trade and Investment Commission (Austrade).
She was formerly the lead partner for education in Oceania, with Ernst and Young.
Paul Murphy (B.A., B.Econ), is Australia’s new Consul-General in Lae, Papua New Guinea’s commercial hub, and is expected to move into the consulate’s new premises in mid-2017.
He was formerly DFAT’s Assistant Director, Free Trade Agreement Division, and has served overseas as First Secretary (Economic) in the Australian High Commission, Port Moresby.
Julienne Hince (Foreign Affairs Grad Dip) was also posted overseas in 2017 as Australia’s new High Commissioner to Malta.
She is a career officer with DFAT and was most recently Director of its South America and Council on Australia-Latin America Relations Section. Ms Hince has also served overseas including as Deputy Head of Mission to the Australian Embassy in Athens.
